Kitten Adoption Take-Home Instructions
-
Cat Carrier - Important: please bring a cat carrier with you to pick up your kitten, whether you are meeting us at the airport or at our cattery. We will provide you with a soft baby blanket to place inside your cat carrier, as well as, a care package. The blanket has been rubbed on mom's coat to lock in her scent, which will help your kitten to remain calm on the way back to their new forever home. The care package will contain toys, fresh catnip, and a small bag of grain-free food, just to get you started.
-
Food - Blue Buffalo grain free kitten food
-
Toys - cat stand, cat scratchers, toy mice, catnip, stick-and-string toys with feathers or bells.
-
Water Fountain - we found that cats drink more water in general when a water fountain is available, versus a water dish.
-
Litter - Arm & Hammer (dust free)
-
Hair Care - use a wire brush ("slicker brush") to collect the excess hair from your Siberian at least twice per week. This will ensure the coat remains well groomed and mat-free. Be sure to brush both ways, forward and backward.
-
Miscellaneous Care - we do not recommend leaving your Siberian alone for more than 24 hours. If you are leaving for an extended period of time, be sure to make arrangements for a visitor to check on and play/love your Siberian at least once per day, as Siberians are a very social breed and constantly need human interaction.
-
Coconut Oil - we recommend leaving a small cup next to your kitten's food dish containing about a teaspoon of coconut oil, which your kitten will periodically snack on during the day. Cats generally love coconut oil and the health benefits are tremendous!
Coconut oil will lubricate your cat's throat which will prevent hairballs, and it aids in digestion, providing for a healthy stomach. It also helps with allergies, dry skin, itchiness, and overall coat health, resulting in soft, smooth and lush fur. Finally, coconut oil has also been known to benefit a cat's immune system, reduce arthritis inflammation, and improve bad breath.
